The Council on Foreign Relations asks: "Are the Chinese Failing To Equip Their Infantry?"

A modern PLA soldier’s equipment compares poorly even to that of a Vietnam-era American draftee. It’s particularly ironic that the world’s largest exporter of body armor has reserved so few sets for its own military personnel.

So what if the Chinese army is poorly equipped? They got about 10 million or so, plus they can just grab and conscript from the surrounding countryside. So what if they lose 10 thousand or so in every battle?

And for all you satire-challenged, that was semi-sarcasm.

Thanks to their one child policy, favoring male babies, they have a whole lot of excess males to get rid of.

Was going to say, they outnumber ANY force by 10 to 1, and maybe folks dont realize the joke of the body armor they export is that is matches the quality of much of their other junk they send to us and provide our military contractors....But that just makes the multicultural liberals all upset to tell the truth....

You wouldn't catch me dead in chinese made body armor, but youd catch me alive in american made and tested armor....Just saying, i didnt buy chinese.. Sign Me Neal Jensen

Infantry needs: Food, Water, Uniform, Boots , LBE , Weapons , Ammo and a good shovel. EVERY THING ELSE is a luxury. With the above a properly trained and motivated infantry can kick ass. EVERY THING ELSE is Defense Contactor bull shit.

If China "lost" 300,000,000 rural men to combat over 10 years, the sound you would hear from Peking would be sighs of relief. No Revolution for at least 15 years. Plenty more cannon fodders where those came from.

China would face a slight labor and husband shortage for 1 generation. It would be difficult to do "human wave" military formations without drafting the baby-mama's. Peace might break out.

Depending on how wealthy a country is, and how much they value the lives of their young men, will determine if body armor is a priority for E-5 or below.

It is a fact that "some" amount of good armor and PPE increases survivability and effectiveness overall. Increasing survival means that training/skills learned are retained, which is very valuable to an Army.

You don't need to equip your troops with good or even decent equipment when they outnumber everyone else several times over.

How was that quote you always put on here? "Quantity has a quality all it's own"? China has never given a damn about a ground pounder, they are only useful to hold ground and police up the non conformers. They are spending on advanced systems that will let them give us a run for our money .... sort of.

Makes sense to me, we can't afford big losses as our troops are professional soldiers, well trained and a lot of time and training invested. America won't put up with big losses anyway. Chinese citizens have nothing to say if they lose thousands at a time, they probably don't even ship the bodies home.

I suspect the CFR is blowing smoke up its own backside to make the DoD feel good about itself. The PLA may have better troop morale.

China is busy spending cash instead on buying up private property here in the USA. HOME MORTGAGE under water? For closed? No matter, Chinese snap it up. Business going under? Bankruptcy? No matter. Chinese are buying like gangbusters.

Why prepare to fight when nobody on the planet cares to invade you and you have no plans to invade militarily for decades? Make no mistake - the Chinese are BUYING AMERICA, one property at a time.

Every time patriots question why gubmint snaps up private land - think it through. Gubmint does it to ensure that China cannot buy controlling shares. I don't like gubmint snatching up land any more than the next guy but you know what? Until dumbass Americans start catchin on to what's happening, I'd rather the US gubmint step in before the CHINESE gubmint.

When they've got more infantry than their opponent has ordinance, they can afford to lose a few.
