My understanding is that the powers-that-be took umbrage at that post, but it was widely circulated on Facebook and other venues. Now we have the result: Should the city tell you where to park in your yard? Alabaster says no

Well citizens of Alabaster, all I can say is "enjoy your new neighbors... or better yet, "disfrute de sus nuevos veinos"!
Because that's what "yard parking" REALLY means.
It means your community is in the early stages of Mexican colonization. Ten cars parked all over the lawn at one house is a hallmark of it. They have no choice, after all, there's two dozen people living in the house!
That's what "no yard parking" laws are REALLY there for. To keep communities from being overrun by hordes of "undocumented economic guests". It's too bad all you freedom lovers aren't smart enough to see that. Instead, you think it's about Big Brother telling you what to do. It's not. In this case, those "Nazis" really DID have your best interests at heart. And yall just blew it.
Well, enjoy your newly reaffirmed right to park in your yard. And enjoy the things that will soon come to your community along with it. Things like:
English as a second language.
Idle men loitering around convenience stores waiting for work.
A exponential increase in the amount of litter in your community. Littering must be a national sport in Central America.
More petty crime like car break-ins.
The destruction of the turf football fields and baseball diamonds at your local parks due to daily soccer games in all but the coldest months. The grass just can't sustain being played on for hours daily. Soon it will all be mud.
More no-pay patients at hospitals, and overcrowded ER's and emergency clinics.
More "anachronistic disease" outbreaks in your community from newly arrived, unvaccinated people who are reintroducing diseases that were wiped out here generations ago.
A huge increase in people who drive without insurance, followed by a huge increase in the number of hit-and-run type accidents. Followed by a huge increase your insurance rates to make up for you living in a barrio.
Loud exhaust systems on every other Honda civic you see.
And most importantly, a steady, accelerated erosion of your electorate, and all the things that go with it.
Central Americans don't have a gun cluture, don't have an appreciation for the Second Amendment, and don't vote for the Dead-Elephant party that at least keeps most new gun bans at bay. They vote for the people who promise to give them more free stuff, and more access to YOUR stuff. They vote democrat.
Too bad you guys in Alabaster didn't see this coming...
You thought it was about parking in your own yard, when really, it was about so much more than that.
You won the battle, and just lost the war because of it.
Mike, there is part of this that you don't understand. Due to the Dodd/ Frank lending bill low income people can finance expensive homes that they couldn't ordinarily buy. Hispanics have a culture of parking in the yard & often they are junk cars that won't run. Then the next thing you know there is all kinds of junk piled on & around said car & children's toys, junk cycles, & other junk liter the yard. This can have a terrible effect on surrounding property values besides being a terrible eyesore. AgPilot 66.
