Under pressure from Demanding Moms, Facebook mulls banning 'gun-themed' pages

Now what, exactly, are "gun-themed fan pages"?
Campaigns like this one are hardly new. Gun ban zealots' have been spewing the noise pollution of hysterical demands to shut down the "internet loophole" for years. Since then, we have seen similar shrieking about gun sales facilitated by Instagram (now owned by Facebook), and the social media giant Reddit. If one goes back far enough, it turns out that there was once an effort to close--get this--the "newspaper loophole," because guns sold through classified ads are apparently so much more dangerous than other guns.

Looks like the bloomberg moms are trying to set themselves up as arbiters of what is good and bad, by restricting access to information that they do not like.

Freedom includes the freedom to access what information you would like to read or watch.

If something offends, one could always turn the page, change the channel, or go to a web page one likes.

Restricting a web page based on its theme is a bad idea. That places special interest groups as information filters, never a good idea in a free society.

Some time back a mother in Canada was successful in having the word "gun" removed from her second grade daughter's list of vocabulary/spelling words.

You literally don't have to make these stories up.

Holy Crap!!!! Say it ain't SOOOO!!!

I guess if I hadn't given up a year ago on the idea that Facebook could ever be useful for anything other than killing brain cells, I would be upset over this. Oh and I would DEFINITELY close my profile down.

Now? I guess I'll have to go back to the dark side and open another Facebook account and plaster gun related Bric-a-brac AAAALLLLLLL OVER IT! Crap.
