Codrea: "An open letter to NRA’s Wayne LaPierre on ‘Project Gunwalker’"

Yeah, Wayne, how about it?

Stirring words are welcome, Mr. LaPierre—as one of the chroniclers who helped bring the Gunwalker story to the fore, I was glad to see when NRA let its members know there was a story. I was delighted to see NRA call for congressional investigations a month later. And I thought making it a centerpiece of your address at the Annual Meeting this past weekend was absolutely the right and the smart thing to do.

I hope you agree with me that the words NRA has offered to date, while needed, have just not gone far enough. And I hope NRA members, and our representatives on the Board of Directors, agree with me as well.

Please put an “or else” behind those words, Mr. LaPierre. As you have noted, lives are in the balance and a conspiracy exists. Your use of the word "insidious" to describe this scandal is appropriate. Why would you not?

"The only chance, if there even is one, is for the House of Representatives and the Senate to amass the clout to force the Administration to stop the stonewalling."

And how would the Legislature go about "amassing clout"? ESPECIALLY with one house still dominated by the party to which the Executive branch belongs?

The Legislative branch has no way to apply FORCE. No FORCE equals no enFORCEment. Period.

The legislature (only the House of Representatives, really) can bluff and bluster and harrumph and threaten all it wants. But when it comes right down to it, any sword it seems to swing is made of aluminium foil. And Repubs in the Legislature bleeping well KNOW that. That's why Issa has made no move yet to have Melson found in contempt. He doesn't want the rest of the country to find out the emperor's new clothes are less substantial than a hologram.

Personally, I don't believe there will be any real-world impact AT ALL from "Gunwalker". No one I have spoken with - outside of fellow "wackos" - has ever HEARD of "Gunwalker".

Stock up on food, supplies and ammo and get ready to bug out with 5 minute's notice.

The only hammer the House wields is money. So far they have folded on the 2011 FedGov "budget",(Don't try their kind of budget at home, boys & girls!) They will fold on the Federal debt ceiling, and they will fold on the 2012 "budget".

Don't be too surprised when they fold on "Gunwalker".
